S1E3 – The Importance of TOI

Creating a podcast requires a lot of work from recording, editing, to promoting. That’s why knowing your TOI or your Topic Of Influence is one of the essential steps. It helps you:

  • Be more spontaneous & confident in talking to your audience
  • It allows you to enjoy what you do even if it’s a lot of work
  • It allows your listeners to feel your passion through your message

Assessing which podcast category, industry, or niche you belong to helps you save time, energy, and effort.

S1E2 – 4 Ways To Earn In Podcasting

There are different ways to earn through podcasting, and I discuss four of them here in this episode.

1. Selling Products or Services – By providing precious education to your target market, this allows you to be on top of their mind.

They may not purchase immediately, but as soon as they feel the need, YOU will be the first person they’ll reach out to.

2. Affiliate Marketing – This allows you to sell services or products that are not yours, and you’ll earn commission from each purchase.

3. Building Relationship- this expands your reach and enables you to establish a relationship with podcasters who are aligned with your brand values.

4. Guest Booking – allows you to tap into other’s audience ethically.

“I AM NEW TO PODCASTING ANY ADVICE YOU COULD GIVE?”

Pod Kai Media

This is a question I usually get when someone wants to start a podcast.

So here is a couple of advice I could give:

🔥 KNOW YOUR TOPIC OF INFLUENCE (Thanks to Steve Olsher) Identify from which category you could BE YOURSELF most of the time because this will help you BE RELATABLE and COMFORTABLE while recording.

🔥 IDENTIFY YOUR TARGET LISTENER’S BEHAVIOR –

*Know their pain points

*Determine which social media platforms they usually hang out All of these will help you BIGTIME in promoting your show and each of your episodes.

🔥 IDENTIFY YOUR OFFER SO YOU CAN USE THE RIGHT CTA

Do you want them to be a part of your Facebook group or sign-up to your email list to nurture them?

This will help you choose the right CTA for your outro, promotional posts, and show notes (A CTA aside from asking them to subscribe, review, and leave a rating)

🔥 CREATE AN EXPLICIT SCHEDULE AND COMMIT TO IT -SHOW UP.

If you promise to publish one episode a week, every Tuesdays then, BE THERE.For unexpected circumstances that would make you miss an episode for a week, a PODCAST BANK will SAVE you.

Record at least four episodes in advance that is still relatable to your Topic of Influence to maintain your PRESENCE.

🔥 THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IS IDENTIFY YOUR GOAL – Do you plan to sell a specific service or product through your podcast?

Do you plan on doing affiliate marketing out of it or build your network?

Determining this helps you build a functional strategy that will solidify the foundation of your podcast.

These are just the basic things that you can start with. Now go ahead and let the world hear your message. 💪

FAILURE TO CRAFT YOUR CUSTOMER AVATAR IS A PODCASTING PITFALL

Crafting your customer avatar is an essential part of promoting your business. But first, let us discuss what CUSTOMER AVATAR means.

According to Viral Solutions, A customer avatar (sometimes referred to as a buyer persona, marketing persona, or customer profile) is a representation of your ideal customer—the type of person you want to purchase your products or services.

Podcasting helps us CREATE AWARENESS and let our ideal customers know about what we do, who are we, and that we have the SOLUTION TO THEIR PROBLEMS, warm them up & prepare them to take action on the offer.

But what would happen if you record and publish episodes that are not well-crafted based on your customer’s NEEDS and WANTS?

⛔ You end up ASSUMING that the podcast topics you have suit them well when, in fact, THEY DON’T

⛔ FAILURE to invite the appropriate GUESTS in your show, making it much more complicated to address the REAL PROBLEM of the listeners

⛔ If you can’t CLARIFY to POTENTIAL GUESTS what type of market you serve, GOALS, and PURPOSE, it causes CONFUSION. They won’t be able to CRAFT & SHARE the MESSAGE that will resonate with your audience

⛔ People won’t IDENTIFY what your REAL PURPOSE is.

⛔ You won’t be their GO-TO person because your message is all over the place.

Not only that, because episodes are your HERO CONTENT. This means the extracted tidbits from it for PROMOTION across different social media platforms will also not be well-crafted, decreasing your chance of attracting the right target market.

And repeatedly doing this CAN LEAD TO EXHAUSTION.To save yourself from that, here’s what you should do:

🌱 Determine who you want to talk to – What are their (Psycho-graphics and Demographics)

➡️ Age

➡️ Gender

➡️ Location

➡️ Interests

➡️ Job

➡️ Language

➡️ Pain Points

➡️ Wants

➡️ Needs

➡️ Motivation

Remember: The message you have in your recording dictates what kind of repurposed contents you have.

🌱 Identify your TOPIC OF INFLUENCE – Which Podcast Category would yours fall under? If it’s BUSINESS, which INDUSTRY does it belong?

🌱 Know what’s your GOAL – Do you want to SELL SERVICES or PRODUCTS? AFFILIATE MARKETING or BUILD RELATIONSHIP?

🌱 Know what your OFFER is. – This will help you use the RIGHT CTA every after episode.

🌱 Do SOCIAL MEDIA LISTENING – Go to groups where your target market hangs out. LISTEN.VERY.CAREFULLY.

Listen to their conversation, follow threads, take down notes. That’s where you’ll generate lots of content ideas directly from your ideal customer.

Share this with your friends who need this.

HELP ME SPREAD THE MESSAGE. Thanks!💖

The Best Podcasting Microphones

Rode Podcaster

USB Broadcast Microphone

The RØDE Podcaster is a dynamic, end-address USB microphone that combines broadcast-quality audio with the simplicity of USB connectivity, allowing recording direct to a computer without the need for an additional digital interface. Including an audiophile quality 18-bit resolution, 48kHz sampling A/D converter, the Podcaster processes all of the analogue-to-digital conversion internally, bypassing the computer’s lower quality on-board sound controller altogether.

A headphone output on the microphone body provides zero-latency monitoring, so the user can hear exactly what is being recorded, free of delay or echo. The Podcaster features an internal pop filter, designed to minimise plosives sounds that can overload the microphone capsule and distort the audio output. It is fully compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8 and Mac OS X computers, as well as several Linux distributions. The microphone is bus powered and features a status LED to indicate operation.

The Podcaster is ideal for podcasting, vodcasting, YouTube videos, voice recognition software, corporate videos and any production application that requires a simple yet professional voice-over microphone. It is also a convenient demo microphone for musicians and songwriters that prefer the convenience of a USB microphone but don’t want to compromise sound quality.

It can also be used as an iPad microphone for the Apple iPad (in conjunction with the iPad Camera Connection Kit and a powered USB hub) to provide high quality recording to various iPad audio applications such as Garageband. The Podcaster includes a sturdy RM2 microphone ring mount. For professional applications the optional PSM1 shock mount and PSA1 boom arm are highly recommended.
