My two-day no-technology experience
Are there still people who can live with no technology? Isn’t fantastic to escape from it sometimes and feel the real joy nature can give us? Yeah! It is! With the hustle and bustle we experience every day, we deserve to have time for ourselves and calm our minds once in a while. Feel the gentle touch of the cold breeze on the beach, hear the soft whisper of the wind from the mountain and bathe on the clear water of the sea. It is just so relieving, right? It makes me reminisce about our very short vacation in one of the thousand islands of the Philippines.
ANAWANGIN
Taken by Anne (One of the girls)
This two-day get away gave us a lot of memories to treasure. We were five ladies with one goal… “RELAXATION”. =) These women were my housemates and we were staying in Mandaluyong back then. We were working with different jobs for 8 hours every day excluding the duration of our travel from home to office and vice versa. Saturdays and Sundays were only the chance we could hang out together or have a good rest. One day, one of them saw an advertisement about Anawangin and told us about it. We all agreed and fixed our schedule to match everyone’s rest day. We arranged the budget, things to bring and voila! All was set accordingly.
This photo was taken before we leave for Anawangin
Here’s the squad photo. It was Friday evening when we waited for each other to get home. We traveled by bus and different public vehicles bringing our backpack full of clothes and supplies. It took hours to get there because the bus had to carry enough passengers before leaving. We traveled from night until dawn, dawn until morning and we got there at around 6 am. Affirmative! The long travel was all worth it!
This was taken on the first island we visited
The boat behind us was our transportation to do island hopping and get to where we would spend the night. It was really nerve-racking because I’m not used to traveling in the middle of the sea with waves around me. During that time, the mobile signal started to weaken but no emotion for it was spared because we were beginning to act like kids seeing how beautiful the island is. 🙂 Minutes had passed and pictures were taken, we left for our last stop.
The photos below show our “bed” and “dining table”. When we arrived at the cove, we headed directly to the place where we chose our spot, fixed our things and cooked lunch. We used dried woods and charcoal for cooking and ate with bare hands. A little while after that, my friends went for a hike while I played with the sand because I am not really into heights. It just took them an hour to climb a little mountain.
When they got back, we bathe at the beach and frolicked in the water. We waited for the sun to set so we could capture images with it. Hours passed and it was time for dinner, we prepared it the same way and had a little bonfire. We talked about some hilarious stuff as if we were the only people there.
